Beyond Boxing's mission is to engage justice-involved young adults in an immersive social environment through our dual curriculum of boxing and social emotional instruction to internalize our Core Values and foster sustainable strategies for identifying and responding to positive mentorship within one's community and beyond...

The Beyond Boxing model embeds tailored educational instruction and credible mentorship within community-based boxing gyms to provide a unique opportunity to 14-25 year olds whom are involved in the criminal justice system. A social emotional curriculum delivered in a classroom setting and an accompanying boxing protocol operated by credible messengers work in unison to deliver instruction in our Core Values.

Beyond Boxing is a choice for immediate impact and sustainable successes. Graduates continue to benefit from their inclusion in our program in numerous ways. Staying connected to our program, staying connected to boxing and utilizing our network allows graduates to sustainably replicate the lessons they've learned beyond our program. Our referral partners, our community partners, our coaches and most importantly our clients have shared some of their impressions and experiences with us. Fernando Mateo, Beyond Boxing Mentor and Boxing Coach

BB identifies and partners with gyms that have a long-standing history of serving justice impacted communities. To date, Beyond Boxing has partnered with two community-based boxing gyms, El Maestro and Brotherhood Boxing Club, located in the Bronx and Brooklyn. The entirety of our program (the classroom and boxing session) within in our host gym.

Beyond Boxing carefully selects USA Boxing accredited coaches to work as mentors for our clients. These mentors are chosen for the lived experiences they share with our clients, for their belief in positive change and their credentials as amateur and pro level boxing coaches. They work closely with our director to design our unique Boxing Protocol. They are the credible messengers and community leaders that connect our clients to BB's vision for positive change.

Our classroom is guided by our Core Values and our unique Social Emotional Curriculum. Classroom instruction leads our clients through dynamic conversations and activities that help them locate, define and respond positively to Mentorship. Initially embedded in the gym, dialogues and activities invite our clients to apply the successes they are having during our program elsewhere: within their communities, their schools and while employed.
